School September 2022 opening

Dear KCS Families,

August 22, 2022 It’s been a hard week. The news of Ernie Mason’s passing has affected our staff and families hard. His role as a father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, and friend to many has left such a huge hole in our community. Our hearts are heavy and many of our staff are taking the time to be close to their loved ones. At the same time, major construction is happening at the school. Our pipes are 25 years old and in need of replacement. I feel relieved and blessed that such a competent crew is working on this important project. But we cannot rush the work. Crew boss, Davin, has requested more time to finish the work. School will be delayed until September 12th . I also need to meet with staff to discuss what this will look like. Please let us take a pause, a breath, before we move on to planning and doing. We miss the students and are so keen to get the year started, but we need to pay attention to our feelings and ensure that the construction work will last another 25 years. I will continue to report to you about the plan for the week of Sept. 12th. Kindergarten parents, I will also be sending you a letter in the next few days, as your plan will look a little different.
