NOTICE OF GRADE 12 GRADUATION LETTER

Prior to the end of October in any given school year, Grade 12 students shall receive a letter from the principal stating the required number of courses that need to be passed for a ‘Certificate of High School Completion’ or a ‘Grade 12 Dogwood Diploma.’ An updated letter shall also be issued by the principal by the end of February confirming the conditions under which a student shall graduate by June of the school year.

KITASOO GRADE 10-12 HIGH SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS

Some of our high school courses run the full ten months and others run for one semester. Students may take:

  • face-to-face courses with their teachers,
  • online courses, or
  • use the ‘Connected Classrooms’ online format with other students from around the province.

COURSE COMPLETION

During each semester, students focus on 4 core courses and some electives. These courses are often rigorous and aimed to improve and stretch their abilities. Therefore: IT IS CRITICAL FOR SUCCESS IN HIGH SCHOOL TO HAVE REGULAR ATTENDANCE AND DO HOMEWORK REGULARLY.

We recommend that students begin coursework at the beginning of a semester (in September, January, and March). Accommodations can be made for mid-semester entry, but collecting materials and getting the student set up for success mid-way through a term may require some extra time and effort (by the teacher and administration). Your patience and cooperation is appreciated.

All current High School graduates or adults who seek post-secondary funding need to send a funding request letter to Post-Secondary School Program Coordinator, Tara Duncan. It is the responsibility of students and parents to talk with her about the funding guidelines, application deadlines, and procedures.
