I’ve been working as a Language & Culture Instructerat the Kitasoo Community School for 4 years. I’m passionate
about my job, and want to continue doing this important work.
I love to learn Xai Xais because it was never taught to us during school. We were never given the opportunity when
I was younger, because of Residential School (Indian Day School). My parents and Grandparents were never allowed
to speak our language,Because when they spoke the language they were punished.During my time at KCS, I have taken
in & learned a tremendous amount of Xai Xais language, This is why it is so important to give our children more opportunity
to learn our Language,that we never had the opportunity to learn. I’m really passionate about Language Revitalization because
Nora (My Mentor) says “It’s a dying art”,and if we don’t learn our Language & pass it on to the next generation then it will be gone
